Class 4 & 5 Driving Licence Renewal for Over 65 – What Are the Requirements?

All Singapore Class 4 and Class 5 driving licence holders aged between 65 and 74 years old are required to undergo a medical check-up and be certified fit to drive by a Singapore-registered medical practitioner in order to renew their Class 4/ 5 driving licence. The medical requirements must be completed within two months prior to their next birthday.

The medical practitioner will submit your completed HMER digitally to TP/ LTA on your behalf. You will receive a first SMS notification after your HMER is successfully submitted. A second SMS will notify you on the outcome of your HMER submission and follow-up action to book your PDT / EPDT. You may proceed to register online for the test at SSDC. 

You must pass the following test within 2 months before reaching your next birthday:

Proficiency Driving Test (PDT)


70 to 74

Enhance Proficiency Driving Test (EPDT)

When securing a TP Test after Date of Birth:

  1. TP test date that you select must be 2 days after birthday.
  2. Must submit PDL application 2 days after birthday.

You will not be allowed to drive a heavy vehicle if you failed to submit your medical examination report and/or pass the proficiency driving test before your birthday.
